The Man Behind the Message

Garrick Griffin is a proud native of Birmingham, Alabama. Raised in a single-parent household
alongside his brother in a low-income housing community, he was surrounded by something far
greater than wealth, unshakable love, and support.

He joined the United States Army in 1990 and served with distinction for over 30 years,
culminating his career as the Fort Knox Garrison Command Sergeant Major. Garrick holds a
Master of Science in Management from Excelsior College and a Bachelor of General Studies
from Columbia College. He is also a member of the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team,
equipping leaders across the world with tools to influence and inspire.
After retirement, Garrick founded Don’t Talk About It, Be About It Consulting, LLC, a coaching
and leadership development firm committed to helping individuals and teams lead with action,
authenticity, and accountability.

He believes that leadership is not about titles, it’s about action. His mission is simple: help
others lead themselves first, then lead with impact.
Known for his commanding presence, authentic storytelling, and hard-earned wisdom, Garrick
speaks to audiences ranging from corporate teams to military units, inspiring them to trade
excuses for execution.

Whether coaching, speaking, or serving behind the scenes, Garrick continues to live out his

He is married to his lifelong partner, Mrs. Earline Griffin, and together they are the proud
parents of three sons Darius, Garrick II, and the late Daquan a one daughter, Myka Rai-Lynn. His family remains his greatest joy, his deepest motivation, and his daily reminder of what legacy
truly means.
